Why it matters

Less chasing, clearer books

Everything your bursar needs to bill, collect and account for school fees, and everything parents need to pay them.

  • Bill a class in one step

Build a fee structure with itemised fees, apply it to a class or arm for the term, and TapEdu raises one invoice per pupil. Pupils already billed are skipped.

  • One wallet per family

Each parent has one wallet per school, backed by a full ledger, and can pay any linked child's fees from it.

  • Pay in full, in part or per item

Parents can clear an invoice at once, pay part of it or pay for a single fee item, and get a receipt every time.

  • Bank transfers, confirmed

When a parent pays by transfer, a claim is raised against your school's bank account and your finance staff confirm or reject it.

  • Online options when you are ready

Switch on an online payment gateway and dedicated virtual accounts for parents once your school's payment provider details are configured.

  • Reconciliation in one view

See today's collections, wallet payments, gateway and transfer totals, outstanding balances, refunds and pending claims together.

How it works

How fee collection works in TapEdu

From the fee structure to the receipt, with your finance team in control.

  1. Step 1: Set up your fees

Create a fee structure with itemised fees, link it to a term and choose which payment methods your school accepts.

  2. Step 2: Raise invoices

Apply the structure to a class or arm to raise an invoice for every pupil, or create a one-off invoice when you need one.

  3. Step 3: Parents fund and pay

Parents top up their wallet by bank transfer, or online where your school has enabled it, then pay in full, in part or per item.

  4. Step 4: Confirm and reconcile

Finance staff confirm transfer claims, refund with a reason when needed and check the day's totals by payment channel.

Frequently asked questions

How can schools collect school fees online in Nigeria?
With TapEdu, parents see their children's invoices in the Family Portal and pay from a school wallet. They fund the wallet by bank transfer to your school's account, which your finance staff confirm, or online through a payment gateway or a dedicated virtual account where your school has enabled and configured them.
What is a virtual account for school fees?
A virtual account is a dedicated account number assigned to a parent for paying the school. In TapEdu, virtual accounts are optional: they are available once your school switches them on and its payment provider is configured.
How do bank-transfer payment claims work?
The parent transfers money to your school's bank account and a claim is raised in TapEdu. Your finance staff check it against the account and confirm or reject it. Once confirmed, the amount is added to the parent's wallet and can be used to pay invoices.
Can parents pay school fees in instalments?
Yes. Parents can pay an invoice in full, pay part of it or pay for a single fee item from their wallet. The invoice shows as part-paid until the balance is cleared, and a receipt is issued for each payment.
Do parents get a receipt after paying?
Yes. Each wallet payment issues a receipt that parents can see in the Family Portal, together with an in-app confirmation. Staff can see the payment history and, when needed, refund a payment with a recorded reason.
